Rishi Sunak, the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, said to the Legislative Assembly of the United Kingdom that he held “warm and productive” discussions with Narendra Modi, the Prime Minister of India, regarding a free trade agreement (FTA) with India. The Prime Minister of the United Kingdom gave an update to the parliament on his recent trip to New Delhi for the G20 Summit that was led by India. In his speech before the House of Commons, the leader, who is 43 years old, discussed the Indian connections that he and his wife, Akshata Murty, have as well as their financial interests in India.
“For the record, I’d like to state that my family and I are of Indian descent, which is a matter of public record. Rishi Sunak stated, in reference to Akshata Murty’s Infosys shares, that his wife and her family are Indian citizens with financial interests in India.
Additionally, Rishi Sunak highlighted his three primary objectives for his India visit, which included increasing diplomatic pressure on Russian president Vladimir Putin, addressing climate change, and strengthening ties with India.
Rishi Sunak stated, “I had cordial and fruitful discussions with Prime Minister Modi about strengthening our relationship in defense, technology, and a free trade agreement between our nations.”
He also noted that while the majority of G20 leaders had gathered in Delhi, Vladimir Putin was absent from the summit.
Putin lacked the courage to confront his G20 colleagues on a daily basis. His actions cause unimaginable suffering in Ukraine, violate the United Nations Charter, endanger European security, and disrupt global energy supplies… “Leaders came together to condemn the human suffering caused by Putin’s war,” he said.
He emphasized that the United Kingdom is seen as a global leader on climate issues by stating, “At the G20, I pledged a record sum of over £1.6 billion to the Green Climate Fund, the largest international climate commitment the United Kingdom has ever made.”

Regarding China, the British prime minister stated, “I emphasized to Premier Li that actions designed to undermine British democracy are utterly abhorrent and will never be tolerated. I also emphasized the United Kingdom’s unwavering commitment to human rights and the significance of sustaining stability and international law as the foundation for stable relations.”
