Seema Haider Case: Five Puzzle-Inducing Questions

Seema Haider and Sachin Meena were questioned by Uttar Pradesh Police’s Anti-Terrorist Squad (ATS) on Monday. After UP ATS detained a suspected ISI.

The Anti-Terrorist Squad (ATS) of the Uttar Pradesh Police questioned Pakistani national Seema Haider and her Indian companion Sachin Meena on Monday in New Delhi. In May of this year, Haider fraudulently entered India with her four children. She was residing with Meena in the Greater Noida neighbourhood of Rabupura.

Notably, Haider and Meena were questioned a day after UP ATS apprehended a suspected agent of Pakistan’s Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) in Lucknow on charges of providing “vital information about defence establishments” to his handlers.

A small right-wing extremist group in Greater Noida has threatened to organise a demonstration if Haider is not expelled from the country within three days. The local police apprehended Seema on July 4 for illegally entering India, and Sachin was detained for providing shelter to Seema and her children. During interviews with the media, Seema stated that she has no desire to return to Pakistan.

Seema Haider’s illegal entry into India gave birth to the following questions:

Pakistani Spy or cross-border lover?

Seema Haider reportedly made contact with Sachin in 2019 through the online game PUBG. Approximately four years later, she entered the Indian territory with her four children. It appears to be the plot of a Bollywood extravaganza film. The issue now is whether she crossed the Indian border for romantic reasons or for other reasons. A suspected ISI agent was apprehended in Lucknow on Sunday. It is unclear whether she is only an international partner.

How she entered India?

In March of this year, the 27-year-old Pakistani woman first encountered Sachin in Neal. Two months later, she successfully entered India. She reportedly travelled from Pakistan to Dubai. From there, she travelled to Nepal before entering Indian territory with a legitimate visa. How she entered India with valid documents remains unclear. Currently, the UP ATS is investigating her travel route.

Is she a national threat?

Seema Haider, a Pakistani citizen, asserted that she entered India out of affection for Sachin. She added that she had embraced Hinduism and pleaded with the authorities to let her marry Sachin. On July 4, she was initially apprehended by local police for unlawfully entering India. Sachin was also arrested for providing sanctuary to unlawful immigrants. Seema does not have legitimate documents. It is possible that she is lying and that she entered India at the direction of the ISI. The government is investigating the entire situation.

How Seema Haider Exposed Loopholes In India’s Security System?

The authorities are still incapable of tracing Seema’s travel route into India. She had been residing in India without documentation for two months prior to this month, when the authorities learned of her existence. Additionally, Sachin and her parents assisted her during her illicit stay in India. It should be thoroughly investigated how Seema and Sachin were able to conceal the matter for nearly two months.

Why has no official statement been released by Pakistan so far?

Seema is a Pakistani national. Pakistan has not, however, issued an official statement on the subject. It spawned numerous speculations. Several reports claim that Pakistani intelligence agencies informed the Indian government that Seema entered India solely due to Sachin’s affection.
Seema’s spouse, Ghulam Haider, made an appeal for her return to Pakistan earlier in the day. Currently, Ghulam Haider resides in Saudi Arabia. He had declared his affection for Seema. During an interview with a Pakistani YouTuber, Haider voiced concern for the welfare of Seema and her children.
