On Friday, a total of six Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) corporators switched allegiance to the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in the presence of the Gujarat Home Minister Harsh Sanghavi.
“Swati Kyada, Nirali Patel, Dharmendra Vavliya, Ashok Dhami, Kiran Khokhani, and Ghanshyam Makwana took the membership of BJP,” the official from the party added.
A while ago, four Aam Aadmi Party councillors, Rita Khaini, Jyoti Lathia, Bhavna Solanki, and Vipul Movaliya, defected to the BJP.
In the municipal elections that took place in Gujarat in 2021, the AAP was victorious in 27 of the seats in the Surat Municipal Corporation (SMC). In total, there are 120 available seats in the SMC. BJP was victorious in 93 of them. The congressional candidates were unsuccessful in winning any of the races.
