Cabinet reshuffle: Arjun Ram Meghwal replaces Kiren Rijiju as Law Minister

The new Indian law minister is Arjun Ram Meghwal. Meghwal would inherit Rijiju’s portfolios together with the Ministry of Law and Justice.

The Indian government has appointed Arjun Ram Meghwal as the new minister of law. In addition to the Ministry of Law and Justice, Meghwal will receive extant portfolios held by Rijiju as part of this reorganization. As advised by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, President Droupadi Murmu has reallocated portfolios among Union Council of Ministers ministers, according to a Rashtrapati Bhavan statement.

“Shri Arjun Ram Meghwal, Minister of State, be assigned the independent charge as Minister of State in the Ministry of Law and Justice, in addition to his existing portfolios, in place of Shri Kiren Rijiju,” stated a Rashtrapati Bhavan press release.

It stated, “Shri Kiren Rijiju shall be given the portfolio of the Ministry of Earth Sciences.”

Minister of the Union Jitendra Singh oversaw the Ministry of Earth Sciences.

Meghwal is the Minister of State for Parliamentary Affairs and the Minister of State for Culture at the present time.

Rijiju assumed his position as Minister of Law and Justice on July 8, 2021. From May 2019 to July 2021, he served as the Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Youth Affairs and Sports.

Now, Kiren Rijiju will be in charge of the Ministry of Earth Sciences.
