Election Results 2023: As votes were being tallied in three northeastern states, the Election Commission of India reported that the ruling Nationalist Democratic Progressive Party-Bharatiya Janata Party (NDPP-BJP) alliance had a commanding lead in the Nagaland assembly election. In Meghalaya, Conrad Sangma’s NPP is inching towards the majority, as predicted by the majority of exit surveys. In Tripura, the BJP was ahead by 31 seats, reaching the halfway mark of the 60-member assembly.

Tipra Motha, a regional party founded by Pradoyt Kishore Manikya Debbarma, a former member of the royal family, is expected to play a significant role in the construction of the next government in Tripura. As the tallying continued, Tipra Motha led in ten of the twenty assembly constituencies reserved for Scheduled Tribe candidates.
In 16 seats, the Left-Congress coalition is in the lead. Initial indications suggest that Tipra Motha will significantly eat into the BJP’s vote share in the tribal regions of the state.
Election Results 2023: Meghalaya updates
In Meghalaya, the ruling National People’s Party (NPP) led in 27 seats, while the opposition United Democratic Party (UDP) led in six. The NPP’s first candidate to gain a seat was Sniawbhalang Dhar, who defeated Congress’s Emlang Laloo by 2,123 votes in Nartiang. The BJP and the Congress led on five seats each, while the Trinamool Congress and the Voice of the People Party (VPP) led on five and four seats, respectively. In the South Tura constituency, Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma led his nearest BJP opponent, Bernard N. Marak, by a mere 44 ballots.
Mukul Sangma of the TMC was ahead of ND Shira of the NPP by 457 ballots in the Songsak constituency. In the Mairang constituency, Meghalaya Assembly Speaker Metbah Lyngdoh trailed Batskhem Ryntathiang of the Congress by 54 votes.
Election Results 2023: Nagaland updates
In the Nagaland assembly election, the governing NDPP-BJP alliance is in the lead on 34 seats. The counting of votes for the 59 assembly seats began at 8 a.m., beginning with postal ballots and continuing with EVMs. The NDPP and the BJP contested the election with a 40:20 seat-sharing pact. It was reported that NDPP leader and Nagaland chief minister Neiphiu Rio was ahead of his closest rival from the Indian National Congress, Seyievilie Sachu, by over 6,394 votes. Deputy chief Minister and BJP candidate Y Patton held a 110-vote lead in the Tyui constituency election in Wokha.
PB Chang of the BJP won the Tuensang Sadar-I seat by 5,644 ballots over Toyang Chand of the NCP. In Dimapur-III and Western Angami, two of the four women candidates, Hekhani Jakhalu and Salhoutuonuo Kruse of the NDPP, were also in the lead. In three constituencies, the Republican Party of India (Athawale) was in the lead, while the LJP (Ram Vilas) was in the lead in two seats. In five seats, the NCP was in the lead, while independent candidates led in two.
