It was too late for Palestinians to safely escape to the south and for a hospital in Gaza City to be evacuated. The Palestinian Red Crescent Society said that Israeli forces gave them an order earlier today telling them they had to leave their Al Quds hospital. The original start time was 6 a.m. today, but it was later pushed back because the hospital could not be safely removed and had to keep caring for the sick and hurt, the statement said.

As of this morning, the Israeli military had closed a window for “safe passage.” During that time, Palestinians could travel along two key routes from northern Gaza without being hurt from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. local time.

‘Hamas is ISIS, will be crushed soon’:On Thursday, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu thanked US Secretary of State Antony Blinken for helping Israel combat Hamas. He described Blinken’s visit as a concrete manifestation of America’s unwavering support during a time when the region should stand tall, united, and proud in opposition to the sheer evil.

“The extraordinary support of the American people for Israel in our war against the barbarians of Hamas is greatly appreciated. “Mr. Secretary, your visit serves as further concrete evidence of the United States’ unwavering support for Israel,” Netanyahu said in a joint statement following his meeting with Blinken at the Kirya headquarters of the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) in Tel Aviv.

He added that Hamas has demonstrated its antipathy toward civilization, but that the forces of civilization will ultimately triumph over the pure evil. “Tony, my companion. What I say to you, I say to everyone. There are numerous challenging days ahead. However, I am certain that the forces of civilization will prevail. This is true due to the fact that we are cognizant of the fundamental requirement for triumph—moral clarity. “At this time, we must stand tall, united, and proud in opposition to evil.”

Neatnyahu compared the Hamas to ISIS and declared that the extremist organization, too, would be annihilated. “Hamas is ISIS, and in the same way that ISIS was defeated, Hamas will also be defeated.” Hamas ought to be subjected to the same treatment that ISIS received. They ought to be expelled from the international community. They should not be welcomed by any nation or leader, and those who do so should face sanctions.

During a visit, Blinken declared that the United States will “always” support Israel, but added that Hamas does not represent the “legitimate aspirations” of the Palestinian people. “Your personal strength may be sufficient to defend yourself.” However, not for as long as the United States of America endures. “Our support will perpetually be extended to you,” Blinken stated in the joint statement.

Blinken and a team of officials arrived at Ben Gurion Airport in Tel Aviv earlier today for a solidarity visit as the Israeli army confronts Hamas in retaliation for the 1,200 deaths that occurred over the weekend in Israel. Additionally, at least 25 American citizens were slain in the attacks, according to Blinken.

President Joe Biden had previously deemed the unprecedented assaults on Israel the “deadliest day” for Jews since the Holocaust, recalling the centuries-long anti-Semitism and genocide that the Jewish people have endured. The United States, according to Biden, continues to closely monitor the situation in Israel.

Since the Hamas attack, the mortality toll in Israel has risen to 1,200, and an estimated 3,300 have been injured. In the interim, Israel has devastated thousands of structures and leveled entire city blocks in Gaza, claiming the lives of over 1,350 Palestinians.

After Hamas militants in Palestine launched a surprise rocket attack, Israel declared a “state of war” and attacked the Gaza strip from the air. The militants said it was only their “first strike.” In a video message after the killings, Benjamin Netanyahu, the prime minister of Israel, said that the country is at war.

He said, “We are at war and we will win. It’s not an operation or a round. It’s at war.”

Benjamin Netanyahu’s first words since Hamas started the multi-front attack on Israel were made in a TV speech. He told the call-up of reserve troops that Hamas would “pay a price that it hasn’t known until now.”

The prime minister also told the military to clear the towns where Hamas militants had come in and were still fighting with Israeli troops.

Israel’s defense minister said this happened after Palestinian terrorists started a “war” against the country. This happened after a barrage of rockets was fired and fighters from the Palestinian enclave got into Israel. Officials say that at least two people were killed in Israel. Yoav Gallant, Israel’s defense minister, said that the Palestinian terrorist group Hamas has “launched a war against the State of Israel.”

“Troops are fighting against the enemy at every location,” he told us. The rocket fire from inside Gaza caused Israel’s forces to start attacking from the air.

“Dozens of IDF fighter jets are currently striking a number of targets belonging to the Hamas terrorist organisation in the Gaza Strip,” the military stated.

At the same time, Israeli troops hit targets in Gaza, which made air raid sirens go off all the time in Tel Aviv and Jerusalem. It said that forces were fighting with guns with Hamas fighters who had sneaked into Israel in at least seven places. The army told Israel that the fighters had snuck across the fence and even come in from the air.

New Delhi: In an effort to demonstrate its diplomatic prowess, China has recently begun mediating the decades-long Palestine-Israel conflict. China, building on its success in mediating a peace agreement between Saudi Arabia and Iran, now aims to reduce tensions and promote stability in the Middle East by actively pursuing a solution to the Palestinian issue.

China’s involvement in the issue was highlighted in an article published by the Global Times, a Chinese government-affiliated news outlet. The publication urged the international community to refocus on the Palestinian issue, emphasizing the collective responsibility to assist the Middle East in achieving peace and stability.

Seven persons were injured in a recent Palestinian suicide attack in Tel Aviv, carried out by a 20-year-old Palestinian, which highlights the urgency of mediation. Hamas, a Palestinian political organization, described the assault as a “first response to Israeli crimes against Jenin residents.” This incident and a succession of events that have escalated have increased the need for external intervention to de-escalate tensions.

Significantly, China’s attempt to mediate follows Israel’s extensive operation in Jenin involving drones and helicopters, which resulted in the largest assault in the northern West Bank in more than two decades.

The operation resulted in the death of at least ten Palestinians, the injury of eighty others, and the flight of thousands from the affected refugee camp. In response, Palestine severed all contacts, meetings, and security coordination with the Israeli government, vehemently condemning its brutal West Bank raids.

During a June 27 meeting of the UN Security Council, the Permanent Representative of China to the United Nations, Zhang Jun, emphasized the significance of breaking the cycle of violence between Israelis and Palestinians.

He emphasized the importance of upholding international law, halting unilateral actions that alter the status quo, honoring political commitments, and advancing the two-state solution. Zhang Jun’s comments demonstrate China’s desire to play a significant role as a regional arbitrator.

The expanding role of China in mediating conflicts is not limited to the Palestine-Israel conflict. The recent success in facilitating the resumption of diplomatic relations between Saudi Arabia and Iran has emboldened China to pursue additional diplomatic efforts as a mediator in international disputes involving Gulf states and beyond.

In June, President Mahmoud Abbas of the State of Palestine visited China, where President Xi Jinping proposed a three-point settlement for the Palestinian issue. President Xi emphasized the urgency of addressing the unresolved issue, which has caused the Palestinian people significant distress for decades.

The visit of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to China, scheduled for later this month, is anticipated by Chinese leaders. Although the trip has not yet been officially confirmed, experts and academics believe that Netanyahu’s visit could be instrumental in advancing a peaceful resolution to the Palestine-Israel conflict.

ALSO READ :Jaishankar to Embark on a Four-Day Visit to Tanzania Today

According to some experts, Netanyahu’s decision to engage with China reflects Israel’s desire to remind the United States that other diplomatic options exist.

China seeks to facilitate the resumption of diplomatic relations between Saudi Arabia and Israel in addition to mediating the Palestinian-Israeli conflict.

Western nations, and the United States in particular, have yet to determine how they will respond to China’s newfound willingness to mediate in complex international issues.

Tens of thousands of Israelis took to the streets in cities across the country on Sunday night in a spontaneous outburst of rage after Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu dismissed his defense minister for opposing the Israeli leader’s judicial reform plan.

Protesters in Tel Aviv blocked a major highway and lit large bonfires, while in Jerusalem protesters clashed with police outside Netanyahu’s residence.

The unrest exacerbated a months-long crisis caused by Netanyahu’s plan to overhaul the judiciary, which has sparked mass protests, alarmed business leaders and former security officials, and prompted concern from the United States and other close allies.

Netanyahu’s dismissal of Defense Minister Yoav Gallant indicated that he and his allies will move forward with the reform plan this week. Gallant was the first senior member of the ruling Likud party to voice out against it, stating that the deep divisions posed a threat to the military’s strength.

However, as throngs of demonstrators flooded the streets late at night, Likud ministers began indicating a willingness to slow down. Netanyahu confidant and Minister of Culture Micky Zohar stated that the party would support Netanyahu if he decided to postpone the judicial reform.

In a brief statement issued late Sunday, Netanyahu’s administration announced the dismissal of Gallant. Later, Netanyahu tweeted, “We must all take a stand against refusal.” After Netanyahu’s announcement, tens of thousands of Israelis took to the streets in protest, blocking Tel Aviv’s main artery, covering the Ayalon highway in blue-and-white Israeli flags, and lighting a large bonfire in the center of the road.

Thousands of people demonstrated in Beersheba, Haifa, and Jerusalem, where they congregated in front of Netanyahu’s private residence. The police fought with protesters and sprayed the throng with water from a water cannon.
Inon Aizik, 27, stated that he came to demonstrate in front of Netanyahu’s private residence in the heart of Jerusalem because “bad things are happening in this country,” referring to the judicial reform as “a quick legislative blitz.” Netanyahu’s decision came less than a day after Gallant, a former senior general, urged for a delay of the controversial legislation until after the Independence Day holidays next month, citing unrest in the military ranks.

Gallant had expressed concern that social divisions were lowering military morale and emboldening Israel’s adversaries. Gallant stated, “I see how the source of our strength is eroding.”

Despite the fact that a number of other Likud members had indicated they might follow Gallant, the party united swiftly on Sunday, paving the way for his dismissal.
Netanyahu’s minister of public diplomacy, Galit Distal Atbaryan, stated that Netanyahu summoned Gallant to his office and informed him, “that he no longer has faith in him and is therefore fired.” Shortly after the announcement, Gallant tweeted, “The security of the state of Israel has always been and will continue to be my life’s mission.” Yair Lapid, leader of the opposition, stated that Gallant’s dismissal “harms national security and disregards all defense officials’ warnings.” Assaf Zamir, the consul general of Israel in New York City, resigned in protest.

Former Shin Bet director Avi Dichter is anticipated to assume his position. According to reports, Dichter had considered joining Gallant, but on Sunday he declared his support for the prime minister.

This week, Netanyahu’s government is pushing for a parliamentary vote on the overhaul’s linchpin: a law that would give the governing coalition the ultimate say over all judicial appointments. It also attempts to enact legislation that would give parliament the authority to overturn Supreme Court decisions with a simple majority and restrict judicial review of laws.
The proposal, according to Benjamin Netanyahu and his allies, will restore the balance between the judicial and executive branches and rein in an interventionist court with liberal leanings.

Critics, however, assert that the constellation of laws will eliminate democratic checks and balances in Israel and concentrate power in the hands of the governing coalition. In addition, they assert that Netanyahu, who is currently on trial for corruption, has a conflict of interest.
During the past three months, tens of thousands of people have demonstrated against the proposal in the largest demonstrations in the country’s 75-year history.

Former top security officials and critical allies, including the United States and Germany, have voiced their opposition to the plan.

Even within Israel’s army, the most popular and respected institution among Israel’s Jewish majority, discontent has increased in recent weeks. In recent weeks, an increasing number of Israeli reservists, including fighter pilots, have threatened to disengage from voluntary duty.
The Israeli military is confronting an escalation in violence in the occupied West Bank, threats from Lebanon’s Hezbollah militant group, and fears that archenemy Iran is close to acquiring nuclear weapons.

In recent weeks, violence in Israel and the occupied West Bank has reached levels not seen in years.

The director of an influential Israeli think tank, the Institute for National Security Studies, Manuel Trajtenberg, stated, “Netanyahu can dismiss his defense minister, but he cannot dismiss the warnings he received from Gallant.” In the meantime, an Israeli good governance group petitioned the country’s Supreme Court on Sunday to penalize Netanyahu for allegedly violating a conflict-of-interest agreement intended to prevent him from interacting with the judiciary while he is on trial for corruption.

The Movement for Quality Government in Israel, a vehement opponent of the reform, petitioned the court to order Netanyahu to comply with the law or face a fine or imprisonment. It stated that he was not beyond the law.

“A prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu who disobeys the court and the provisions of the law is privileged and an anarchist,” the group’s leader, Eliad Shraga, said, echoing language used by Netanyahu and his allies against demonstrators opposed to the reform. “The prime minister will be required to genuflect before the law and abide by its provisions.” The prime minister responded by stating that the Supreme Court had no grounds to intervene and dismissing the appeal.

Benjamin Netanyahu is prohibited by the country’s attorney general from directly dealing with his government’s plan to overhaul the judiciary due to a conflict of interest agreement to which he is bound, and which the Supreme Court acknowledged in its ruling regarding Netanyahu’s fitness to serve while on trial for corruption. Instead, Netanyahu’s close confidant, Justice Minister Yariv Levin, is spearheading the reform.

But on Thursday, after parliament enacted a law making it more difficult to remove a sitting prime minister, Netanyahu declared that he was freed from the attorney general’s decision and vowed to intervene in the crisis and “heal the nation’s rift.” This declaration prompted the attorney general, Gali Baharav-Miara, to warn that Benjamin Netanyahu was violating his agreement regarding conflicts of interest.
Guy Lurie, a research fellow at the Israel Democracy Institute, a Jerusalem-based think tank, stated that rapid legal and political developments have propelled Israel into uncharted territory and toward a growing constitutional crisis.

“We are at the beginning of a constitutional crisis in the sense that there is a dispute over the authority and legitimacy of various governing bodies,” he stated.

Benjamin Netanyahu is charged with fraud, breach of trust, and accepting bribes in three separate affairs involving affluent associates and influential media moguls. He denies wrongdoing and refutes his detractors’ claims that he will attempt to evade the charges through the legal overhaul.

<img decoding="async" class="" src="https://vid.alarabiya.net/images/2023/01/04/ce560ac7-5c5d-4e55-b3d5-a992595d1b29/ce560ac7-5c5d-4e55-b3d5-a992595d1b29_16x9_1200x676.JPG?width=372&format=jpg" alt="Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu attends the weekly cabinet meeting in Jerusalem, 3 January 2023.
Benjamin Netanyahu responded, “Well, I’m absolutely looking into it,” when asked during an interview with CNN whether or if assistance could be supplied by Israel to Ukraine, similar to the system known as Iron Dome, which is supported by the United States and protects Israel from aerial attack.

He went on to say that the stockpile of artillery that belonged to the United States and was stationed in Israel had been moved to Ukraine, and that he sees the actions against Iran as being part of a similar effort to move the artillery stockpile.

“The United States has just given a significant quantity of Israel’s military equipment to the Ukrainian government. To tell you the truth, Israel takes action against Iran’s weapon productions that are used against Ukraine in a number of different ways, which I will not list here “Benjamin Netanyahu added.

Benjamin Netanyahu also stated that he had been asked to intervene in an unofficial capacity after the Russian invasion of Ukraine in February; however, he did not accept these requests because he was still a member of the opposition at the time.
He went on to say that he would be happy to act as a mediator if the United States and other countries asked Israel once more.

Netanyahu made no specific guarantees to Ukraine, and Israel has maintained a partnership with Russia, which controls the skies over neighbouring Syria and has turned a blind eye to Israeli attacks against Iran’s archenemy Assad.

“Because of my extensive life experience, I am aware that there must be an opportune moment coupled with an appropriate set of conditions before any action can be taken. If the circumstances warrant it, I’ll give it some thought “Benjamin Netanyahu remarked. He went on to say that he believed the conflict in Ukraine was of “monumental importance,” but that “we have our own backyard to deal with.”
