A sanction of 10 lakh is levied against Air India by the DGCA. This is why:

The DGCA said that since May 2023, it has been inspecting scheduled domestic airlines at a number of big airports on a regular basis.

The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) fined Air India 10 lakh on Tuesday for breaking the civil aviation rules.

The aviation regulator said in a statement that it had issued CAR Section 3, Series M Part IV, titled “Facilities to be provided to passengers by airlines due to denied boarding, cancellation of flights, and delays in flights” in 2010. These rules were reviewed from time to time to make sure that air travelers were properly protected in the event of flight disruptions, especially denied boarding, flight cancellations, and delays.

The DGCA said that since May 2023, it has been inspecting scheduled domestic airlines at a number of big airports on a regular basis. “When the airlines were being inspected, it was seen that Air India was not following the rules of the relevant CAR.” “As a result, a show cause notice has been sent to Air India asking them to explain why they are not following the rules of the CAR,” the DGCA statement that ANI read said.
