Aryna Sabalenka Wins her maiden major title, the Australian Open Women’s Singles title in 2023. After an epic three-set battle, the Belarusian Tennis star overcame Elena Rybakina to claim victory at the Rod Laver Arena.
She defeated the reigning Wimbledon champion 4-6, 6-3, 6-4 after dropping the first set. The legendary match lasted two hours and 28 minutes.
The Wimbledon champion made a strong start to the game and appeared poised to add to her previous titles. She easily won the first set, which lasted only 34 minutes, and appeared to be in pole position to win the title. Sabalenka, on the other hand, was not one to give up and pulled off an incredible comeback.
The second set proved to be a long affair, with both players delivering top-notch tennis. Sabalenka levelled the game with a 6-3 victory in the second set, which lasted 57 minutes.
The decider put both players’ nerves to the test, and Rybakina Sabalenka Wins was the first to blink. At 3-3, she was broken as Belarusian perseverance paid off. The Wimbledon champion saved two breakpoints but was defeated on the third.

Sabalenka made no mistakes from then on, holding both her serves and sealing her victory by winning the third set. While Rybakina saved three match points, Sabalenka made the most of her fourth chance to become a grand slam champion for the first time in her career.
This victory not only provides the 24-year-old her first major championship, but also ensures that she will move up to second in the WTA women’s singles rankings. In terms of Rybakina, her runner-up finish will propel her into the top ten of the rankings for the first time.
Data slam: Sabalenka is rewarded for her consistency at grand slams
After beating Rybakina, who won Wimbledon in 2022 and was the 57th major champion, Sabalenka became the 58th different woman in the Open Era to win a grand slam title.
Only Iga Swiatek (24) and Jessica Pegula (18) have won more grand slam main-draw matches than Sabalenka (17) in the last two years. The 24-year-old had reached the semi-finals in three previous majors, but this was her first major win.
