The Padma Shri, the country’s fourth-highest civilian award, was given to a doctor in Madhya Pradesh who treats people for only Rs 20.
Dr. Munishwar Chandar Dawar, who is 77 years old, sees about 200 patients every day. They pay him a small amount of Rs 20 each.
Dr Dawar was born in Punjab, Pakistan, on January 16, 1946. After Partition, he moved to India. In 1967, he got his MBBS from Jabalpur. This stands for Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery.

He was also in the Indian Army for about a year during the Indo-Pakistan War in 1971. After that, he started helping people in Jabalpur get health care in 1972.
Dr. Dawar used to treat patients for just Rs 2, and now he only charges Rs 20.
Dr. Dawar told the news organisation ANI, “There was talk in the house about why the fee was so low, but there was no disagreement about it. Our only goal was to help people, which is why the fees didn’t go up. Working hard and being patient is the basic rule for success, and success is also respected.”
