Physics Wallah

An instructor from the edtech company Physics Wallah has apologized for using a casteist epithet during an online lecture. Physics Wallah uploaded a video statement of the teacher, Manish Raj, to its official X (previously Twitter) account and emphasized that inclusivity is one of the company’s fundamental values.

“We regret and apologize for the insensitive remarks made by one of our instructors that have offended the Dalit community. The concerned educator has issued an official apology. Promoting inclusiveness is one of our fundamental values, and we will ensure that this does not happen again,” the Noida-based company wrote on X.

Raj, meanwhile, stated that he made the remark ‘unconsciously,’ and that he never intended to offend anyone.

“A few days ago, while explaining a topic, I accidentally and unwittingly said something hurtful to many individuals. Raj said in his video statement, “I apologize to the Dalit community, I am ashamed, and I will never make this mistake again.”

“Why did I even choose this career? I regret having to do this (teach) at times. God, you would have been better off making a C****r…I would have my sandals polished. Then, he says, my existence would have been peaceful.

This latest controversy arises just days after another edtech company, Unacademy, fired a teacher for encouraging his students to vote only for ‘educated leaders.’ Karan Sangwan was terminated despite not mentioning any politician or political party by name.
