It is typical for societies and Resident Welfare Associations (RWA) to issue rules and regulations for the inhabitants. The majority of these are designed to maximize the convenience of apartment proprietors and tenants while maintaining order on the premises. In a bizarre incident, however, a society in the Kundanhalli Gate neighborhood of Bengaluru issued rules prohibiting bachelors and spinsters residing as tenants from hosting visitors in their apartments after 10 p.m.
In the event that a visitor needed to stay overnight, they were instructed to obtain prior sanction from the owner via email.
A user posted the notice from the society on Reddit. It read, “Guests are not permitted in Bachelors and Spinsters’ apartments after 10 p.m. Guests are not permitted to spend the night. If required, prior sanction from the Owner via email, the Manager, or the Association office must be obtained by submitting a copy of the guest’s identification and providing the length of stay and Guest entry on Mygate.”
In addition, the association stated that bachelors and spinsters must adhere “strictly” to the norms. “No leniency in the event of violation. Fine of 1,000/- or eviction,” the notice continued.
The association also provided some general guidelines, such as “no loud music after 10 p.m.,” “no late-night parties are permitted,” and “after 10 p.m., corridors and balconies may not be used for phone calls.”
The user added, “In this society in Marathalli, it is acceptable to monitor bachelors’ apartments to determine whether males are entering the apartments of women. Guards contact bachelor apartments to determine if visitors have departed.
Since their release, the standards have received widespread criticism online, with numerous users expressing their disapproval.
“It is worse than dormitories. You pay money to rent an apartment. The rented apartment is yours for the duration of the rental agreement. Who will visit your apartment and what you will do on the balcony are entirely up to you. “It appears that society’s rules are becoming increasingly absurd,” said a user.
A second individual added, “The first section, which contains specific rules for bachelors, is abhorrent. No calls on balconies or in common areas after 10 p.m. appear reasonable and can be supported. Many individuals are unaware of how noisy they can be.
“When unkels rule the country…”, remarked a third individual.

“This is why I detest living in communities! Individual structures with three to five stories are the finest. Additionally, the rent is inexpensive compared to the exorbitant rates in these societies! “How pitiful!” exclaimed another user.
“We are condemned. What section of Bangalore is this?” another person asked.
“Nonsense, you live by your norms, not the proprietor’s, as you are the temporary owner of the property. Yes, it is possible to avoid loud celebrations, but the remainder is none of your concern,” said another.
