The Academy Awards are one of the most revered and prestigious events in the history of Hollywood. Aspiring actors spend their entire lives wishing for the opportunity to be nominated for and win the coveted Oscar; however, only a select few ever achieve this goal. Even though the ceremony itself is typically a solemn occasion, the pre-show coverage is filled with exuberant joy and excitement.
Here are our top five interview highlights with 2023 Oscar nominees:
1. Angela Bassett
Oscar nominee Angela Bassett appeared on the Jimmy Kimmel Live show in 2020. Jimmy Kimmel hosts the late-night talk show Jimmy Kimmel Live in the United States. Since its January 2003 debut on ABC, the show has become a popular staple of late-night television.
The format of the show typically consists of a monologue by Jimmy Kimmel, followed by humorous sketches, celebrity interviews, and musical performances. Angela was overheard saying, “People always give me the Wakanda salute. I will be in church and hear it from the pulpit. It made my children think I was cool for approximately one year. They have a short attention span, therefore I need something new.”
2. Brendan Fraser
In February of 2023, Brendan appeared on The Graham Norton Show. On the programme, he stated, “In George of the Jungle, I despised Crystal the monkey. She had a boyfriend named Mr. Binks with whom I frequently collaborated.
He added, “Mr. Binks would throw a bit and then vanish into the ceiling.” If he did not receive the response he desired. The instructor would exclaim, “Mr. Binks! Immediately cease that! Mr Binks did not give a *****. He was like-”
3. Ana de Armas
Ana de Armas appeared on Late Night with Seth Meyers last year. Her statement, “I brought a copy of Knives to my home in Cuba, was the most amusing part of her interview. At the conclusion of the film, my mother told me-”
She also mentioned Daniel Craig, saying, “Daniel Craig was incredible. Jamie Lee Curtis was outstanding. The show is hosted by comedian and former Saturday Night Live cast member, Seth Meyers.
Meyers delivers a monologue at the beginning of each episode, which is followed by a series of comedy sketches, celebrity interviews, and musical performances. Meyers is well-known for his witty and insightful commentary on current events, politics, and popular culture.
4. Brendan Gleeson
In addition to Colin Farrel, Brendan Gleeson made an appearance on The Late Late Show with James Corden. The pair enjoyed themselves immensely while conversing with James Corden. Brendan was overheard announcing, “Colin won the award, so I went to give him a good smack on the right cheek.” He continued by saying, “He was giving me a kiss on the left side of my face, and we met in the middle. I sat down and pondered the oddity of the situation. However, he had to accept his Golden Globe.”
5. Brian Tyree Henry
Brian Tyree Henry was a guest on the Jimmy Kimmel Live programme. He discussed the upcoming season of Atlanta and Jamie Lee Curtis as his next guest. He stated, “I adore my cosmic connection with Jamie Lee Curtis. I sat next to her on a plane years ago, while my friend sat behind her. She said- “You want me to change with you daddy-o ? I turn the corner in early 2020, and there she is. And, I say nothing. ” He continued, saying, “This year, she is again sitting behind me on a plane, and then I discover that I’m travelling with her tonight. Tonight, I finally met her; she wrote my phone number on her hand, and I said, “I guess we’re dating now.”
