It has been reported that WhatsApp, which is owned by Meta, is working on a new feature that will be known as ‘Chat Transfer.’ This feature will reportedly make it possible for users to transfer their data from one Android device to another making use of a local network.

As the app is still in the process of being developed, WABetaInfo reports that the company will incorporate the new feature into a future version update of the app.

Users will be able to transfer their chat history to a new device simply by scanning the QR code provided when using this feature.

According to the report, it will eliminate the need for Google Drive, and as a result, users will no longer be required to back up their chat data to the cloud service in order to transfer their chats from one device to another. This will free users from the burdensome requirement.

During this time, WhatsApp also launched a proxy support for users all over the world, including the millions of people in Iran and other parts of the world who continue to be denied the right to communicate freely and privately.

If they use a proxy, they will be able to connect to WhatsApp through servers that have been set up all over the world by volunteers and organisations that are dedicated to assisting people in freely communicating with one another.

“We are making it simpler for anyone to establish a connection to WhatsApp by using a proxy. People have the ability to regain access to WhatsApp even if their connection has been temporarily disabled “Will Cathcart, who is in charge of WhatsApp, made this statement.
