What did the Meteorological Department say on breaking the record?

According to the Meteorological Department, in the month of January in 2013, there was a cold wave for six days, but not together but in pieces. Similarly, in 2021 also the cold wave lasted only for six days this month, but even then it lasted in pieces. In other years i.e. during 2014 to 2020 and in 2022 it lasted only for one to three-four days. While Delhi has been experiencing continuous cold wave since January 5 this year. Means it has been five consecutive days. It is likely to continue for a couple more days.

Can’t get rid of Delhi’s cold wave

Significantly, when the minimum temperature is three degrees below normal, it is kept in the cold wave category, while when it is five degrees below normal, it is called a severe cold wave. The minimum temperature in Delhi has been three degrees below normal since January 5.
