Victoria Nuland to visit India, Nepal, Sri Lanka, Qatar
While in India, the Under Secretary of State for Political Affairs will lead the annual US-India ‘Foreign Office Consultations’ on a variety of bilateral, regional, and international problems. During her visit to India, Victoria Nuland will conduct the annual US-India Foreign Office Consultations, which cover the whole spectrum of bilateral, regional, and global issues, and will also meet with young IT leaders, according to an official release from the US Department of State.
In Nepal, the top U.S. diplomat will discuss the expansive agenda of the U.S. collaboration with the new government.
On arrival in Sri Lanka, the Under Secretary will commemorate the 75th anniversary of US-Sri Lanka relations and provide sustained US support for Sri Lanka’s efforts to strengthen the economy, defend human rights, and advance reconciliation, according to an official announcement.
The engagement occurs immediately prior to NSA Ajit Doval’s trip to the United States, purportedly to discuss new technology that both sides can collaborate on. Vikram Misri, India’s Deputy NSA, has already visited the United States.
Lastly, as part of the US-Qatar Strategic Dialogue, the Under Secretary will discuss global concerns in Qatar.

“She will also meet with colleagues to address Qatar’s vital support for the relocation of Afghans with ties to the United States, as well as our bilateral commitment to defend U.S. interests in Afghanistan,” according to a news release from the United States Department of State.
Victoria Nuland, who had a hardline role in the Iraq War and the 2014 coup in Ukraine, last visited India, Sri Lanka, and Bangladesh in March of last year, just after all three abstained from a vote on Ukraine at the United Nations.
Victoria Nuland will visit the subcontinent less than two weeks after her junior State Department colleague Donald Lu.
