Soldier injured as patrolling party attacked in J-K’s Kulgam

The search operation turned into a confrontation when the militants opened fire on the security forces and they responded in kind. In the exchange of gunfire, three members of the security forces were wounded, and they died while being treated.

“Operation Halan. Based on specific information regarding the presence of militants on the upper reaches of the Halan River in Kulgam, the Security Forces launched operations on August 23. In an exchange of gunfire with militants, three service members sustained injuries and ultimately perished. The Chinar Corps of the Army’s Srinagar-based Chinar Division tweeted that search operations are ongoing.

Officials were quoted by PTI as saying that a tight cordon was maintained throughout the night, and a search operation was initiated on Saturday morning to locate three suspected ultras. According to the report, the party is believed to have reached the Kulgam district via the Pir Panjal range.
