Kareena Kapoor has stated that she got married at a time when no actresses were doing so to advance their careers, and that she did so of her own free will. She added that getting married and working was not the norm in the past, but is now acceptable.
Kareena married Saif Ali Khan in October 2012, almost 12 years after making her debut in JP Dutta’s 2000 film Refugee alongside Abhishek Bachchan, and she did not take a vacation from work after her marriage. Soon after, she returned to work and filmed one of her most famous songs, Fevicol Se, for Salman Khan’s blockbuster film Dabangg 2. Since then, she has continued to work in film.

When asked if box office results no longer concern her, Kareena told ETimes that box office results will always matter, but that she is not in competition with anyone. “I am in a state of happiness because I have always chosen to do what I want, and I am fortunate for that. When I decided to get married, there were no other actresses getting married. So many actresses are getting married nowadays! It is now acceptable to be married and employed. Previously, the focus was on not having offspring. Then, abruptly, it occurred to her that she could have a child and continue to work. I have always followed my passions and my convictions.
After the birth of their first child, Taimur, in 2016, she filmed advertisements and even walked the runway while pregnant. She only took a two-month maternity leave after the delivery of her son, Taimur, and quickly returned to work. Within a month of Jeh’s birth in February 2021, Kareena returned to work.
Kareena appeared in Aamir Khan’s film Laal Singh Chaddha a year ago. It was the official Hindi adaptation of the Hollywood film Forrest Gump, directed by Advait Chauhan. The film received divided reviews and featured a prominent role for Mona Singh.
Next up for Kareena are three intriguing projects: The Crew, The Buckingham Murders, and The Devotion of Suspect X.
