Ahmedabad:A group of approximately thirteen middle management officers from the operations and maintenance division of the National High Speed Rail Corporation Limited (NHSRCL) are presently participating in an immersive ‘on-the-job training’ programme centred on Japanese Shinkansen technology. This training initiative is designed to prepare participants for their duties along the Mumbai–Ahmedabad high-speed rail (MAHSR)/bullet train corridor.
These officers, representing various technical departments within NHSRCL, will assume significant responsibilities in the administration and operation of MAHSR, India’s first high-speed rail link connecting Mumbai and Ahmedabad.
Over the course of ten months, the training will take place at numerous locations in Japan. Its primary purpose is to provide these officers with specialised knowledge and understanding of the administration and maintenance of high-speed rail infrastructure. This advanced knowledge is essential for the successful implementation and administration of India’s first high-speed rail project.
This one-of-a-kind opportunity will allow the officers to investigate the most recent technological advancements, optimal methodologies, and top-tier operational practises that have positioned Japan as the global leader in high-speed rail networks.

Mumbai-Ahmedabad High Speed Rail
At a rate of 320 kilometres per hour, the bullet train will cover 508 kilometres. It will make stops in 12 cities, such as Ahmedabad (Sabarmati), Ahmedabad (Kalupur), Anand, Vadodara, Bharuch, Surat, Bilimora, Vapi, Boisar, Virar, Thane, and Mumbai (Bandra Kurla Complex).
In July, bids were solicited for the design and construction of an underground station and caverns in Mumbai for the Bullet Train project. NHSRCL has awarded the final civil package (C3) for the Maharashtra portion of the MAHSR, which consists of 135 kilometres of alignment, seven tunnels, and the two-kilometer-long bridge over the Vaitarna River in Maharashtra.
