Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Tuesday expressed confidence that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) will win the assembly elections to be held next month. Shah claimed that the BJP would break all records and form the government in Gujarat with a majority. Shah, who is now called Chanakya of BJP, praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel and said that the fortunes of the state have changed.
Shah accompanied Kanubhai Patel, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) candidate from the Sanand assembly seat, when he went to file his nomination papers with the election officials. Patel belongs to the Koli community and is the sitting MLA from Sanand. Sanand comes under Shah’s Gandhinagar Lok Sabha constituency. Shah said, “The Gujarat BJP will break all previous records in this assembly election. We are all confident that the BJP will once again form the government here with a thumping majority by winning the highest number of seats and the highest number of votes ever.
Shah said, “Under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel has done many development works in the state. Law and order has been strengthened and he (Chief Minister Patel) has also given a boost to the economy and made improvements in health, education and various sectors. carried forward the model developed by Modi when he was the Chief Minister of Gujarat for the overall development of OBCs.
Polling for the 182-member Gujarat assembly will be held in two phases on December 1 and 5. Polling will be held on 89 seats in the first phase and 93 seats including Sanand in the second phase. The last date for filing nominations for the second phase is November 17. After the BJP re-nominated sitting MLA Kanubhai Patel, local party leader and Sanand Agricultural Produce Market Committee (APMC) president Khengar Patel, who is expected to get the ticket, has announced to contest as an independent against Kanubhai Patel. However, after meeting Shah, Khengar Patel dropped his plan to contest the election and accompanied Kanubhai Patel when he went to file his nomination papers.

Shah said, “Though APMC chairman Khengarbhai had earlier announced to file nomination papers (to contest elections), we are happy that he respected the BJP’s appeal and dropped his plan.” He has supported Kanubhai. I am confident that the BJP will win this seat with a bigger margin than in the last election.
