The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has starts a special audit of helicopter operator Kestrel Aviation in Kedarnath, days after an official of the Uttarakhand Civil Aviation Development Authority (UCADA) was struck and killed by a helicopter’s tail rotor blade following an inspection of the helipad.
DGCA has already ordered the grounding of the operator’s services following the official’s passing on April 23.
The operator has been suspended since the incident, and a special audit of Kedarnath helicopter operator starts on Monday, according to a senior DGCA official.
The deceased official, identified as 35-year-old Amit Saini, was UCADA’s financial controller. Auditing and surveillance duties brought him to the Garhwal Mandal Vikas Nigam (GMVN) helipad.
An official had previously stated, “As he was about to board the helicopter, he was struck by the tail rotor blade and died instantly.”

The official added that another audit of the operator is being conducted to ensure safe operation. After the incident, all other operatives were instructed to adhere to strict safety regulations.
