A team of Bihar cops led by Director General of Police (DGP) RS Bhatti arrived in Bihar Sharif on Sunday night and inspects violence affected areas, after Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar chaired a high-level meeting with senior state authorities to review situations in violence-stricken areas and ordered police to be on high alert. He also met with the superintendent of police of Nalanda, Ashok Mishra, and other subordinate police officers.
Reports indicate that Bhatti also visited Badi Dargah, Paharpur, Gagan Diwan Masjid (where the violence began), and Banaulia. (where there was firing on Saturday night). Nalanda SP Ashok Mishra stated, “Yesterday, Bihar DGP RS Bhatti inspected the violence-affected areas and met with senior police officials. The situation is now under control. One person has been killed, 77 individuals have been arrested, and action will be taken against the perpetrators. Forces have been deployed.”
Mukesh Kumar was slain during the clashes in Bihar Sharif, Nalanda, on Saturday. Sunday, the Bihar government also announced an ex-gratia payment of Rs 5 lakhs for the deceased’s next of kin. According to sources, Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar spoke with Mukesh’s father and sibling, during which he expressed condolences and assessed the situation.
According to Bihar Sharif SP Ashok Mishra, 13 companies of Bihar Special Armed Police (BSAP) and 3 companies of paramilitary have been deployed to restore peace and maintain law and order in the afflicted areas of Bihar Sharif’s Nalanda district. Thursday’s clashes between two groups that erupted during the Ram Navami procession persisted until Sunday morning. It has prompted the Bihar police to apprehend 112 individuals and maintain prohibitive orders in both locations (Nalanda’s Bihar Sharif and Sasaram).
Monday morning, according to the most recent reports, there was an explosion over a home in Sasaram. No injuries or property damage have been reported as of yet. In an effort to ensure the safety of the local populace, police forces have been dispatched to the violence-stricken region, and an SSB unit was observed conducting flag marches.

As communal tensions continued to escalate in Nalanda and Sasaram on Sunday, Bihar’s chief minister and JDU leader Nitish Kumar convened a high-level meeting with senior officials to assess the situation. He also instructed the police to remain vigilant and to identify those responsible for the violence at both locations. The leader of the JDU has also requested that the police keep a watch on the situation in areas affected by violence to prevent further violations of law and order.

In addition, he instructed the Chief Secretary and the DGP to take note of the situation in every district of the state by communicating virtually with the police officers in command of designated areas. According to reports, he has also requested that the police conduct regular press conferences to prevent the spread of rumors.
