Delhi floods: The Okhla facility was activated on Friday after the raging Yamuna showed signs of calming.

On Sunday, Chief Minister of Delhi Arvind Kejriwal announced that the Chandrawal Water treatment facility, one of three that had been closed due to flooding, has reopened.

After the raging Yamuna showed indications of calming down on Friday, the Okhla plant was initiated.

“Chandrawal water treatment plant has also begun operations,” tweeted Kejriwal on Sunday. (Delhi is awash in LIVE updates)

Sunday morning at 9 a.m., the Yamuna’s water level was 205.98 metres, down from 208.66 metres on Thursday evening at 8 p.m.

The decrease in water level is due in large part to the decrease in water discharge from the Hathnikund Barrage in Yamunanagar, Haryana, over the past two days.

The Yamuna’s water level is however still above the hazard mark of 205.33 metres.
