Delhi wakes up to rain lashing several parts of the city

On Thursday morning, the rain that lashing several parts of Delhi lowered the temperature by a few degrees.

On Thursday morning, the rain that lashing several parts of Delhi lowered the temperature by a few degrees.

Thursday dawned mild in the nation’s capital as rain drenched a portion of Delhi, lowering the temperature. In contrast to the pleasant weather in Delhi, sections of Gurugram have been flooded in recent days due to rain.

Over the next six to seven days, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) predicts cloudy weather and sporadic precipitation, with maximum temperatures fluctuating between 32 and 35 degrees Celsius.

The Met office has issued a yellow alert, warning that rain could cause flooding in low-lying areas and traffic congestion on key highways.

The IMD employs four color codes for weather alerts: green (no action required), yellow (observe and remain updated), orange (be prepared), and red (take action).

In the past four months, Delhi has experienced above-average precipitation: 53.2 mm versus 17.4 millimetres on average in March, 20.1 mm versus 16.3 mm on average in April, 111 mm versus 30.7 mm on average in May, and 101.7 mm versus 74.1 mm on average in June.

In July, the IMD forecasts normal precipitation (94 to 106 percent of the long-term average of 280.4 mm) for the country. However, it is anticipated that precipitation will be below normal in many regions of the northwest, northeast, and southeast of the peninsular India.
