‘Never Met Rahul, Sonia Gandhi In Person’: BJP’s Pankaja Munde Rejects Reports Of Joining Congress

BJP leader Pankaja Munde on Friday rejects the reports that claimed that she is likely to join the Congress and met Rahul Gandhi and Sonia Gandhi for the same.

Friday, BJP leader Pankaja Munde on Friday rejects the reports that claimed that she is likely to join the Congress and met Rahul Gandhi and Sonia Gandhi for the same. She stated at a press conference that she had never met Rahul or Sonia Gandhi in person and had never discussed leaving BJP with any party leader. Munde also stated that she will shortly file a defamation lawsuit against the news media outlet.

This comes after media reports claimed Munde had met with Rahul and Sonia Gandhi and would shortly join the Congress. When queried about this, the president of the Maharashtra Pradesh Congress Committee, Nana Patole, stated that she is welcome to join his party if she so chooses.

A few days ago, it was reported that I had met Rahul Gandhi and Sonia Gandhi twice and that I would be leaving BJP and joining Congress. These press reports are entirely false. I guarantee that I have never discussed joining a political party with any party leader. I have never met either Rahul Gandhi or Sonia Gandhi…I intend to file a defamation suit against the channel…,” declared Pankaja Munde, national secretary of the BJP.

The report comes at a time when Maharashtra is experiencing one of its greatest political spectacles since Ajit Pawar led an NCP faction to join the coalition government of CM Eknath Shinde and the BJP.

According to Ajit Pawar’s faction, the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) working committee meeting convened by Sharad Pawar on Thursday in Delhi has no legal standing, as reported by the PTI. Sharad Pawar has convened a meeting of the National Executive/National Working Committee/National Office Bearers/State Party Presidents of the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) today in New Delhi, according to media reports, according to a statement released on behalf of Ajit Pawar.

“Ajit Pawar was elected as the National President of the NCP on June 30, 2023, with the overwhelming support of the majority of elected representatives of the NCP as well as the members working in different organizational posts,” the statement read.
