RailTel Corporation of India, a Public Sector Undertaking (PSU) under the Ministry of Railways, has received a work order for point-to-point lease line connectivity of four megabits per second at 19 Immigration Centres across India from the NIC Centres for seamless immigration services as part of the Immigration, Visa, Foreigner’s Registration and Tracking (IVFRT) project.
According to RailTel’s official announcement, this order has been received from National Informatics Centre Services Inc. (NICSI), a Government of India enterprise operating under NIC. This work order has a value of approximately Rs 38.95 crore per year.
In a timeframe of one year, all link connectivity must be established. Installation, testing, and commissioning of the connectivity are included in the scope of work.
In addition to a previous work order issued by NICSI for lease line connectivity, this current order is included in the statement. RailTel provides lease line connectivity services at 47 immigration/ Foreigners Regional Registration Offices (FRRO) locations.
It is noted that the IVFRT initiative intends to upgrade and modernize immigration services. This project’s primary objective is to create and implement a framework for the deliverance of secure and integrated services that facilitates legitimate travelers while enhancing security.
These immigration centres are located at airport(s), land checkpoint(s), and seaport(s), and connectivity at these locations will be provided by an optical fibre cable network.
Sanjai Kumar, Chairman and Managing Director of RailTel, stated that the current order is consistent with RailTel’s fundamental competencies while providing information about this project. This initiative provides seamless, effective, and efficient online immigration services for those traveling to India.

Notable is the fact that RailTel is one of the largest providers of neutral telecom infrastructure and ICT Solutions and Services in the country, with a Pan-India optic fibre network encompassing numerous towns and cities and rural areas.
RailTel has two MeitY-approved tier III data centres in addition to a robust and dependable network of over 61,000 RKM of Optic fibre. With its pan-India high-capacity network, RailTel is working towards the creation of a knowledge-based society on multiple fronts and has been selected to implement several mission mode initiatives for the Government of India in the telecom sector.
