Imran Khan, former prime minister and leader of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), has decided to run for all 33 empty National Assembly seats, according to senior party official Shah Mahmood Qureshi. During a Sunday evening press conference in Lahore, PTI vice-chairman and former foreign minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi stated that the decision was made during a meeting of the party’s core committee.
“Imran Khan is the lone candidate of the PTI for all 33 parliamentary seats. The decision was made during a Sunday meeting of the party’s central committee, which Khan presided over in Zaman Park in Lahore “Qureshi added.

Fawad Chaudhry, a leader of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), announced on Twitter earlier this month that Khan will be the party’s candidate for all thirty-three seats. After the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) declared on Friday that by-elections for 33 vacant National Assembly seats would be held on March 16, the final decision was made.
12 of the 33 vacant seats in the lower house are located in Punjab, eight in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, three in Islamabad, nine in Sindh, and one in Balochistan.
The PTI legislators resigned en masse from the Pakistan National Assembly in April 2022, following Imran Khan’s ouster.
