Imran Khan’s party president Parvez Elahi arrested outside his Lahore residence

According to the party, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf president Chaudhry Parvez Elahi was arrested outside his home on Thursday.

President of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf party and close aide to former prime minister Imran Khan, Chaudhry Parvez Elahi, was arrested outside his residence on Thursday, according to the party.

“It is disgraceful that the regime does not cease its totalitarianism. The inflation rate has skyrocketed to 38%, prompting the detention of the former chief minister of Punjab, Parvez Elahi. “Absurd!” the party tweeted alongside a video showing the 77-year-old leader being taken from his residence, Zahoor Elahi, by security personnel.

Elahi’s spokesperson Iqbal Chaudhry told the Dawn newspaper that the former chief minister of Punjab was arrested as he was departing his home.

The spokesperson claimed that authorities “misbehaved” with the women accompanying Elahi, who had evaded capture since May 9.

On May 26, a Lahore district court issued an arrest warrant without parole for Elahi.

“The accused’s pre-arrest parole was revoked due to lack of prosecution by order dated May 25, and he is not appearing in court or cooperating with the investigation. In light of the IO’s request, non-bailable arrest warrants for Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi are to be issued on June 2, 2023, according to the court order.
