PM Modi has said that the Global South’s rights have been denied for a long time, causing them anguish, and that India a bridge between Global South to the Western.
In an interview with the French financial newspaper Les Echos prior to his arrival in France, Modi advocated for a comprehensive reorganization of international institutions and stated that, as the world’s most populous nation, India must reclaim its rightful position. “How can the UN Security Council claim to speak for the world when its most populous and most democratic nation is not a permanent member?” he questioned.
He described French President Emmanuel Macron as a strategic partner in the Asia-Pacific region who shared his worldview.
The interview was published as Modi departed for France on Thursday for the first phase of his two-nation tour, during which he will be the guest of honor at the annual Bastille Day Parade in Paris and hold discussions with Macron on cooperation in defense and space.

Modi will be the first foreign leader since 2017 to be the principal guest at the parade commemorating the storming of the Bastille, a symbol of the monarchy, during the French Revolution (1789). In 2017, former U.S. President Donald Trump was invited to the national day spectacle.
