India launches ‘Operation Ajay’ to bring back citizens from war-hit Israel

“Operation Ajay is being initiated to facilitate the repatriation of American citizens who desire to return from Israel. In the process of making special charter flights and other arrangements. “Entirely dedicated to ensuring the security and welfare of our citizens while they are travelling abroad,” stated S Jaishankar, minister of external affairs, on the social media platform X.

The Indian embassy in Tel Aviv announced on X that the initial batch of registered Indian citizens for tomorrow’s special flight has been emailed. “Messages regarding subsequent flights will be sent to other registered passengers,” the embassy added.

The ministry of external affairs declared earlier in the day that a 24-hour control center has been established to monitor the situation in Israel and deliver aid and information. Additionally, Indian nationals have been provided with helpline numbers by the Indian embassy.

A minimum of 2,200 individuals have lost their lives as the Israel-Hamas conflict enters its fifth day. A prominent opposition leader and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu formed an emergency wartime cabinet to oversee the struggle against Hamas.

An escalating barrage of destruction by Israel against Gaza has resulted in the destruction of entire city blocks and the burying of undetermined numbers of corpses beneath debris mounds. On Wednesday, militants in Gaza maintained their barrage of missiles towards Israel, with particular intensity directed at the southern city of Ashkelon.

India has previously demonstrated its solidarity with Israel in its conflict against Hamas, the governing party of the Gaza Strip. Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his Israeli counterpart Netanyahu discussed the current situation in the Jewish state via telephone on Tuesday. “I appreciate the phone call from Prime Minister @netanyahu, during which he provided an update on the current situation. The Indian people are resolutely united with Israel during this challenging period. “Terrorism in all its forms and manifestations is condemned unequivocally and vehemently by India,” Modi wrote on the social media platform X.
