On Sunday, Union minister Amit Shah attacked the Congress party in Raichur, Karnataka, during election campaigning. In addition, he urged the people to work with Prime Minister Narendra Modi to develop their city.
Amit Shah stated in Raichur, “The Congress party destroyed Karnataka when they were in power.” It received fewer than five seats in the northeastern states, and the same will occur in Karnataka. The people of the state obviously support PM Modi, and I urge the residents of Raichur to support BJP’s efforts to develop your city.”
Amit Shah also praised the Karnataka government’s decision to eliminate the 4% reservation for Muslims under the 2B Other Backward Classes (OBCs) category, arguing that the religiously-based quota was unconstitutional. “In this country, the Congress is known for its appeasement politics, and the introduction of a four percent reservation for Muslims was an example of this.”
The minority reservation is not constitutionally legitimate. There is no provision in the constitution for religiously-based reservations. During the election campaign, he stated that the BJP had abolished the minority reservation of 4% and instead granted 2% to the Vokkaligas and 2% to the Lingayats.
