AMRITSAR: On Monday, police apprehended an additional associate of the fugitive Waris Punjab De leader Amritpal Singh in the Ajnala violence case.
The detained man, identified as Rajinder Singh of Barnala, was brought before an Ajnala court, which remanded him to police custody for two days.
On February 23, hundreds of supporters of Khalistan sympathizer Amritpal Singh clashed with police and invaded the Ajnala police station in Amritsar to protest the arrest of one of his alleged kidnappers, Lovepreet Singh alias Toofan.

Senior superintendent of police (SSP-rural) Satinder Singh stated that during the crackdown against the pro-Khalistan leader, Rajinder was detained in Barnala. He added, “He was brought from Barnala on transit remand.”
According to police personnel involved in the investigation, Rajinder was one of Amritpal’s most important associates.
Six police officers, including police superintendent (SP) Jugraj Singh, were injured during the assault on the Ajnala police station.
