On Christmas and New Year’s, Delhiites consumed over one million liquor bottles worth over 218 crore during the week’s celebrations and parties, according to officials.
According to the news agency PTI, a top Excise department official said that the biggest liquor sales of 20.30 lakh bottles were reported in the national capital on New Year’s Eve, December 31.
Keeping the spirits high, reports now suggest that liquor worth Rs 4.80 crore was sold on 31st December 2022 and Rs 3.21 crore on 1st January 2023 in Kamrup Metropolitan District alone.#alcohol #liquorsale #guwahatihttps://t.co/NDtdEOCo4x

During the week of December 24-31, a record 1.10 billion bottles of various types of liquor, mainly whiskies, were sold in Delhi. According to him, the value of alcoholic beverages sold was 218 billion.
According to PTI, December 2022 was the strongest year-end sales in the three previous years, with an average of 13,8 lakh bottles of alcoholic drinks sold in Delhi.
The festival season, which included the sale of alcohol on Diwali, created considerable excise revenue for the government. During the Diwali season in October 2022, Delhi sold over 48 million bottles costing over 100 crore.
