PM Modi will inaugurate a two-day global conference of Buddhist priests, diplomats, and scholars from over 30 countries on Thursday in New Delhi.
The conference is being organized by the Union culture ministry and the International Buddhist Confederation.
“India is the cradle of Buddhism and the Buddha’s homeland. Therefore, it is our responsibility to showcase our Buddhist history and heritage to the global world… and this conference is in line with the country’s and the current government’s vision,” stated Union culture minister G Kishan Reddy on Monday. Given its extent, the Prime Minister will preside over the conference’s opening.
Reddy stated that the conference is being organized by the Union culture ministry and the International Buddhist Confederation. He stated that the conference is culturally significant and will also foster closer diplomatic ties.
“The delegates will discuss today’s most pressing global issues and look for answers in the Buddha Dhamma that are based on universal values,” Reddy said.

He stated that renowned Buddhist priests will travel to India and participate in the conference for the first time. “…discussions will be held on utilizing Buddhist philosophy and thought to address contemporary challenges.”
