India records 3,095 fresh Covid cases in 24 hours

India witnessed a total of 3,095 fresh Covid cases on Thursday, taking the total active cases to 15,208. This is the highest single-day rise in 2023.

India records 3,095 fresh Covid cases: India reported 3,095 new cases of Covid-19 on Thursday, the highest daily increase in infections since 2023. The number of active cases is 15,208, as reported by the city health department.

In the last few days, the country has seen an increase in the number of new Covid cases alongside a steep rise in the number of H3N2 influenza cases. On Wednesday, 2,151 new cases of Covid-19 were reported. Currently, 0.03 percent of cases are active, while the recovery rate stands at 98.78 percent.

1,390 recoveries in the past twenty-four hours brought the total number of recoveries to 4,41,69,711 (over 4 crore).Two patients perished from the infection in Goa and Gujarat, respectively.

According to data shared by the city’s health department, Delhi recorded 295 new Covid cases with a positivity rate of 12.48 percent on Thursday. On Wednesday, the city recorded 300 cases for the first time since August 31, as well as two fatalities and a positivity rate of 13.89%.

Officials say that Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal will conduct a meeting today (Friday) to review the Covid-19 situation in the wake of an increase in cases in the nation’s capital. The Health Minister, Saurabh Bharadwaj, and other senior officials will attend the meeting.

In the meantime, Uttar Pradesh, which has seen an increase in Covid cases, has placed all frontline personnel and public and private hospitals in “alert mode.” The government of Yogi Adityanath has ordered that all affirmative samples be sent for genome sequencing.

Bharadwaj met with Health department officials on Thursday to assess the situation, after which he announced Kejriwal would conduct a review.According to the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), the increase in influenza cases is caused by the Influenza A subtype H3N2 virus.

The H3N2 virus causes a greater number of hospitalizations than other subtypes. Nose discharge, persistent congestion, and fever are the symptoms.
