Putin may attend the G-20 summit in India in September, but no decision has been made as of Monday, according to Putin’s spokesperson.When questioned if Putin’s participation in the September summit in India was being considered, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov replied, “It cannot be ruled out.”
Peskov was quoted by the state-run Tass news agency as saying, “However, no decision has been made at this time.”Peskov added, “We intend to continue Russia’s complete participation in the G-20 smmit.”Last year, Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov led the Russian delegation to the G20 summit in Bali, Indonesia. Putin attended the 2020 and 2021 G20 summits via video link.
The G20 Leaders’ Summit is scheduled to take place in New Delhi on September 9 and 10.G20, also known as the Group of 20, is an intergovernmental forum comprised of the world’s leading developed and developing economies.The members represent approximately 85% of the global GNP, over 75% of global trade, and approximately two-thirds of the global population.
This group consists of Argentina, Australia, Brazil, Canada, China, France, Germany, India, Indonesia, Italy, Japan, South Korea, Mexico, Russia, Saudi Arabia, South Africa, Turkey, the United Kingdom, the United States, and the European Union (EU).Foreign Minister Lavrov attended a two-day meeting of the G20 foreign ministers in New Delhi earlier this month.
Russia’s escalating conflict with Western powers over the Ukraine conflict coincided with India’s diplomatic tightrope walk on the issue.The meeting was also attended by US Secretary of State Antony Blinken, French Foreign Minister Catherine Colonna, Chinese Foreign Minister Qin Gang, Annalena Baerbock of Germany, and British Foreign Secretary James Cleverly.
During a press conference held on the sidelines of the meeting, Lavrov praised India’s “extremely responsible” and “befitting of a major power” stance on key global issues.”The ministers did not ratify the final document because the Western countries insisted on the text agreed upon at the G20 summit in Bali the previous year. They utterly disregarded our argument that much has changed and occurred since then “Lavrov said.

Due to the escalating rift between Western powers led by the United States and Russia over the Ukraine conflict, the G20 foreign ministers’ meeting was unable to issue a joint communique.
