Beijing: As a significant diplomatic triumph for China in the geopolitics of the Middle East, the successful talks between Iran and Saudi Arabia in Beijing are a victory for dialogue and peace, China’s top ambassador Wang Yi said on Friday, following the major diplomatic victory for China.
After seven years of hostility that had endangered the stability and security in the Gulf and helped feed conflicts throughout the Middle East, including Yemen and Syria, Iran and Saudi Arabia reached an agreement on Friday to re-establish relations between the two countries.
At the conclusion of the dialogue, Wang Yi was reported to have said something along the lines of, “This is a triumph for dialogue, a victory for peace, providing significant good news at a time of much turbulence in the world,” according to the Chinese foreign ministry’s translation of what was said.
According to a tripartite joint statement of the countries that was published by China’s foreign ministry, senior security officials from Saudi Arabia and Iran met in the Chinese capital from March 6-10 to hold discussions that had not been made public before.
In the statement, the three parties indicated their determination to make “every effort” to strengthen international and regional peace and security. This was included as part of their commitment to the statement.
In a region where the United States has traditionally held sway over geopolitics, the historic agreement represents a victory for China on the international front. It also comes at a time when China is calling for dialogue regarding Russia’s conflict in Ukraine, which is occurring in the midst of allegations from the West that Beijing has not done enough to address the problem.

According to Wang Yi, “China has diligently completed its responsibilities as the host by acting in good faith and with reliability as a mediator.”
According to what he said, China will continue to demonstrate its responsibility as a major nation by taking an active and positive part in the management of trouble spots around the globe.
Wang Yi made the statement that “the globe is not just limited to the Ukraine problem.”
