North India’s first Nuclear plant coming up in Haryana : 5 points to know

North India’s first nuclear plant will be installed in Haryana’s Gorakhpur, said Union minister Jitendra Singh on Saturday.

The first nuclear power plant in North India would be built in Gorakhpur, Haryana, according to Union Minister Jitendra Singh on Saturday. He claimed that one of the major accomplishments under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership would be the installation of nuclear and atomic energy plants across the nation, which had previously been largely restricted to states in the south like Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh as well as western Maharashtra.

According to Dr. Jitendra Singh, some ground-breaking decisions have been made in the past eight years in keeping with the aim of increasing India’s nuclear capacity. He continued by saying that the Modi administration had approved the installation of 10 nuclear reactors in its entirety.

5 Points about North India’s first nuclear plant 

1. According to Singh, the Center has approved the installation of 10 nuclear reactors in its entirety in an effort to increase India’s nuclear capacity.

2. The Department of Atomic Energy is also allowed to join forces with Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs) to obtain funding for the opening of nuclear power plants.

3. “Gorakhpur Haryana Anu Vidyut Pariyojana’s (GHAVP) is under implementation near Gorakhpur village in Fatehabad district in Haryana. It has two units of 700 MWe capacity each of Pressurized Heavy Water Reactor (PHWR) indigenous design. “As of today, 4,906 crores have been spent out of the total authorised amounts of 20,594 crores (total financial progress is 23.8% as of today),” the department of atomic energy stated in an official statement.

4.According to the announcement, “Haryana Irrigation and Water Resources Department (HI&WRD) has taken up the construction of a water duct from Tohana to GHAVP as deposit work and it is developing well.

5. According to the statement, work on the other main plant buildings and structures, including the fire water pump house, safety-related pump house, fuel oil storage area, ventilation stack, overhead tank, switchyard control building, safety-related and non-safety-related tunnel and trenches, retaining walls, and garland drain, is going well.
