In the context of the so-called Indo-Pacific strategy, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov stated on Friday that Moscow has never engaged in pitting one country against another, but that it is “being attempted by some other outside actors.”
“We never pit one country against another,” Mr. Lavrov said. “Unfortunately, this is being attempted by some outside actors in the context of the so-called Indo-Pacific strategy, using Quad not for economic purposes but to militarise it.”
The Quadrilateral Security Dialogue, also known as the Quad, is a strategic security dialogue between the United States, Australia, India, and Japan.
“The concept of ASEAN plus Quad promoted by our American allies is blatantly intended to derail East Asia Summits. In other terms it means East Asia Summits absent China and Russia,” Mr Lavrov said in a discussion with Observer Research Foundation.
He stated that he had excellent relations with both India and China when discussing Russia’s relations with those nations. He went on to say that official documents signed by the two leaders describe the relationship with India as a “specially privileged strategic partnership,” which is the only status afforded to any other relationship on paper.
“These two (India-China) are of interest to us.
Talking about the negotiation with Ukraine, the Russian Foreign Minister said, “Everyone’s asking when Russia is willing to negotiate. Nobody inquires as to when Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy will negotiate. In 2013, Zelenskyy signed a document that made it illegal to negotiate with Russia while Putin was present. Can you ask him what he’s doing?”
Additionally, Mr. Lavrov discussed NATO and the conflict. He said that Ukraine had said earlier that they will not expand NATO but then they altered their remarks.
“The Ukrainian government annulled the Russian-language provisions of the MINSK agreement, which is a series of agreements intended to end the Donbas conflict between armed Russian separatist groups and the Armed Forces of Ukraine. And when those who did not embrace the coup in the east of Ukraine and in Crimea said, “Guys, leave us alone; we will not follow your policies,” they were told to leave them alone “stated the Foreign Minister.

“And the regime initiated the assault against these individuals. Therefore, the Minsk agreements were viewed as the solution to this problem. Moreover, implementing the Minsk agreements was not particularly complex. It concerned the special status of a small portion of eastern Ukraine, much smaller than the territory currently under the control of the Russian army. However, they were unwilling to do so because the tiny territory’s special status included the right to use the Russian language. The Narcist, who seized power in Ukraine through a coup, regarded this as a forbidden subject “he added. na) great nations to be friends. It was the initiative of my predecessor to create trioka of Russia, China and India which culminated in the BRICS formation. I believe that the more they interact, the better “Sergey Lavrov added.
