Rohit Sharma completes 6000-run mark in IPL

Mumbai Indians skipper Rohit Sharma crossed the 6000-run landmark in the IPL match against Sunrisers Hyderabad on Tuesday.

Tuesday’s IPL match between Mumbai Indians and Sunrisers Hyderabad saw Mumbai Indians captain Rohit Sharma surpass 6000 runs.His innings of 28(18) propelled him past the 6000-run mark, which he reached in 232 contests.

With 6844 runs in 228 games, Virat Kohli leads the chard. 113 is Kohli’s highest total in the IPL. Shikhar Dhawan, captain of the Punjab Kings, is in second place with 6477 runs in 210 games; his highest score in the IPL is an unbeaten innings of 106*.

MI was given the option to bat first against Sunrisers Hyderabad. The visitors’ openers, Rohit Sharma and Ishan Kishan, smashed Hyderabad bowlers all over the field as the game began. The MI captain hit three fours in the third over of his team’s innings.

Rohit’s 28-run innings came to an end when T Natarajan bowled a spectacular delivery to dismiss him.Cameron Green then stepped up to the plate to bat. Two MI wickets fell in one over. Marco Jansen delivered a double blow to Mumbai, dismissing the well-set batsman Kishan for 38 and the new batsman Surya Kumar Yadav for 7.

Left-handed batter Tilak Varma stepped up to the plate. Green and Varma scored 21 runs against Jansen. Tilak was dismissed for 37 runs when Bhuvneshwar Kumar entered the fray and shattered a 50-run partnership.

Tim David then stepped to the plate. Green smashed Natarajan for 4, 4, 4, 6 and reached his fifty in 33 deliveries, scoring 20 runs in the eighteenth over.The MI batsmen scored 14 runs in the final over, bringing the total to 192/5 after 20 overs.
