The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is attempting to formulate a policy for retired Indian cricketers who are interested in joining the various Twenty20 competitions. It is known that there is currently no policy regarding this matter, and the BCCI is eager to implement one.
According to a report in Cricbuzz, retired Indian players must undertake a cooling-off period before joining a Twenty20 league. The duration of the cooling off period will be determined by the BCCI at the July 7 meeting of the Apex Council.
The rumored decision follows multiple instances of Indian players announcing their retirement and then entering a Twenty20 league a week later.
The former players were offered large sums of money to participate in T20 competitions, and the BCCI believed that this could pose a future problem. With the global proliferation of T20 competitions, the BCCI may face a dilemma if retired players are enticed to join the league immediately after their retirement.
BCCI is contemplating numerous crucial decisions as well.
The Apex Council will also debate the participation of both the men’s and women’s teams in the upcoming Asian Games during another portion of the BCCI meeting. Earlier reports indicated that the BCCI would dispatch both the women’s and men’s B teams to the tournament.

In addition, the governing body intends to modify the impact player rule for the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy. Previously, the competition’s impact player criterion was distinct from that of the Indian Premier League (IPL). However, the BCCI intends to maintain the same rules for both the IPL and the domestic tournament, which have no excessive restrictions.
