Shootout at gurdwara in California: Sunday afternoon during a shootout at a gurdwara in Sacramento County, California, two individuals sustained life-threatening injuries, according to officials.According to the sheriff’s office, the incident occurred at approximately 2:30 p.m. at the Gurdwara Sacramento Sikh Society temple on Bradshaw Road.
The temple is located approximately five miles east of Highway 99, near Gerber Road. According to the sheriff’s office, both victims were hospitalized but are expected to survive. Additionally, one of the victims is likely to be arrested.
A spokesperson for the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office, Amar Gandhi, told Fox 40 that the shooting was not a hate crime and described the incident as a shootout between two known individuals.
According to Gandhi, the conflict between the two parties began as a physical altercation but ultimately escalated into a gun battle. One of the individuals involved in the incident is reported to be an Indian male, while the individual suspected of firing the bullets is currently receiving medical treatment in a hospital.
Authorities continue to seek for the second suspect shooter.”During that fight, one suspect shot the friend of the other suspect,” Gandhi stated. “Once the other suspect, who was not shot, regained his composure, he fired at the initial shooter, who then fled,”
When asked if there was an imminent threat to the area, the police officer of Indian descent stated that the situation appeared to be “very contained.””It’s a small blemish on an otherwise peaceful and joyful day,” he said.
The two injured individuals were hospitalized at the Kaiser Permanente hospital in south Sacramento with non-life-threatening injuries.At approximately 3:30 p.m., deputies were seen escorting two men in handcuffs away from the parade; however, it was unclear whether either man was implicated in the incident.
The men were placed in the rear of separate Sheriff’s Office patrol vehicles as a crowd of dozens of people watched in near silence, many holding up cell phones to record the proceedings. Deputies were anticipated to remain at the scene through the evening in order to examine witness statements and mobile phone footage.

The murder occurred during the gurdwara’s first Nagar Kirtan, a traditional Indian neighborhood celebration for Sikhism and other religions.
Sunday’s festivities at the gurdwara were attended by thousands of individuals, according to a tweet. The festivities, which included a Sikh Society parade and other events, were scheduled to last from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
