On Friday, the Lok Sabha was adjourned for the fifth consecutive day due to the pandemonium that broke out after members of the opposition and the ruling party clashed. While the opposition demanded an investigation by a Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC) into the Adani dispute, the governing party attacked Congress leader Rahul Gandhi for his recent “democracy under attack” remarks made in London.
This was the fifth day that the House had been unable to function as a result of protests from both parties. As soon as the Lok Sabha convened for the day, Congress members rushed to the Well of the House, where they chanted slogans and demanded that Rahul Gandhi be permitted to speak. Only members of the BJP are permitted to speak, according to the Opposition.
When they demanded that the Congress member be permitted to speak in the House, they claim that the proceedings were muted.
The Opposition has also demanded a joint parliamentary committee investigation into alleged stock manipulation by the Adani Group, a business conglomerate led by industrialist Gautam Adani, while members of the ruling party have demanded an apology for Rahul Gandhi’s remarks in London.
During his interactions in London, Rahul Gandhi asserted that the foundations of Indian democracy and the nation’s institutions are under “complete attack.”
The chaos continued for approximately twenty minutes as Speaker Om Birla pleaded with the members to enable the House to function without interruption. Om Birla said, “Honorable members, I implore you to ensure the seamless operation of the House. People did not assign you to perform this task. Everyone will have an opportunity to communicate, but the floor must be cleared.”
KC Venugopal, the general secretary of the Congress and a member of the Rajya Sabha, has filed a notice of a privilege question against Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his alleged “derogatory” remarks against Congress leaders Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi.

He added that the remarks made in what appears to be a denigrating tone are not only disgraceful, but also offensive and slanderous towards the members of the Nehru family who are Lok Sabha legislators Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi.
