BHOPAL: The government of Madhya Pradesh has approved the transfer of two cases involving the smuggling of endangered species of wild animals and trees to the CBI due to the alleged involvement of foreign nationals from Hong Kong, Bangladesh, Thailand, Malaysia, Sri Lanka, and Madagascar International Wildlife.
At least eleven foreigners are wanted in connection with the poaching and smuggling of pangolins and turtles from the state of MP, according to a case recorded by the forest department’s special task force. One of the 37 defendants in this case passed away during the trial, and 13 poachers were convicted by a special court in the Sagar area last year. They have been sentenced to seven years in prison, the maximum, and fined between Rs 20,000 and Rs 50,000. They are allegedly affiliated with a global poaching syndicate

Interpol issues Red Corner Notice against wildlife trafficking kingpin Indian officials attempted to apprehend 11 wanted foreign people through diplomatic channels before referring the case to the CBI for investigation.On 5 May 2017, the State Tiger Strike Force registered the incident in Sagar. The MPSTF (wildlife), led by DCF Ritesh Sirothia, conducted a thorough investigation and charged 37 individuals under the Wild life Act of 1972.

16 of the 37 defendants were detained in the states of Madhya Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Uttar Pradesh, and West Bengal.
In fact, the Supreme Court ordered the trial court to conduct a rapid trial, after which the chief judicial magistrate of Sagar commenced daily hearings. The case was watched by the top court.
The suspected leader of the criminal organisation, Manni Murugushan, was detained at Swarnabhumi Airport in August 2012 by Thai authorities. After he failed to appear in court after posting bail, a Thai court issued an arrest warrant for him. Interpol issued a Red Corner Notice on him due to his fugitive status in Thailand.
