CBI arrested Hyderabad’s CA, a former aide to KCR’s daughter, in the Delhi liquor case, according to a report.

The CBI arrested Butchi Babu Gorantla, a chartered accountant from Hyderabad, in connection with the Delhi liquor policy scam.

The CBI arrested Butchi Babu Gorantla, a chartered accountant from Hyderabad, on Wednesday for his alleged role in the formulation and implementation of the Delhi excise policy. Butchubabu Gorantla is believed to be a former aide of Telangana chief minister K Chandrashekar Rao’s daughter MLC Kavitha whose name has already been dragged into the case. The policy caused ‘wrongful gain’ to Hyderabad’s wholesale and retail licensees and their beneficial owners, the agency said. Today, he will be produced in court.

The CA was summoned to Delhi and CBI arrested Tuesday night because he was uncooperative and his answers were evasive.

This is not the first time the CA’s name has been mentioned in relation to this case. In 2022, the Enforcement Directorate conducted a search of his residence in Aravind Nagar, Domalguda, because he served as the personal auditor of numerous eminent individuals, including Kavitha.

Kavitha was questioned by the CBI regarding the policy and denied all allegations that she received kickbacks in connection with the policy.

Manish Sisodia, the deputy chief minister of Delhi, has been named as the main suspect in the case of alleged violations of the Delhi Liquor Police 2021-22. It was abandoned as a result of the dispute. Allegedly, a South cartel of liquor contractors gave 100 crore to AAP officials in exchange for an advantage in the liquor policy. P Sarath Reddy of Aurobindo Pharma, BRS MLA Kavitha, and YSRC MP Magunta Srinivasulu Reddy were members of this cartel.
