After a Cabinet meeting led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Minister Anurag Thakur told reporters that India exports Rs 1,600 crore in turmeric, ANI reported.Regarding turmeric. India wants $1B in turmeric exports by 2030.
India produces, consumes, and exports the most turmeric, 62% of the global market. India hopes to export $1 billion (Rs 7000 crore) of turmeric by 2030 with the help of the National Turmeric Board.
The newly constituted National Turmeric Board will promote turmeric growth and development. As global interest in turmeric’s health benefits grows, it will work with government organizations and the Spices Board. The board seeks to increase turmeric knowledge and consumption worldwide, explore new foreign markets, support creative product research, and empower turmeric growers via skill development. The board wants to improve producers’ lives and keep India a leading turmeric exporter by assuring quality, safety, and value addition.
