Uddhav Thackeray defended his alliance with socialist parties in Maharashtra on Sunday, stating that the Shiv Sena can converse with socialist parties if the BJP can bestow flowers upon Pakistani cricketers. Sena-Samajwadi alliance is not a novel concept in the organization’s past; Bal Thackeray, the father of Uddhav, also formed an electoral alliance with socialist parties. However, their trajectory changed in the years that followed as the Shiv Sena adopted the Hindutva ideology. As Uddhav deliberates on an alliance with one hundred and fifty socialist leaders, his action is perceived as a deviation; in response, he criticizes the petals that were showered upon Pakistani cricketers in Ahmedabad.
A cordial reception awaited the Pakistan cricket team in Ahmedabad, where they would be facing India in the 2023 World Cup. The musicians were greeted at the hotel with a spray of petals, dhols, and a musical performance.
Sanjay Raut, leader of the Uddhav Sena, questioned the special treatment and stated that the BJP would have raised a hue and protest if any other state had received it. “The Pakistani team is guaranteed an enthusiastic reception in Gujarat.” This could only occur in the state of Gujarat. Had the incident transpired in an alternative state, the BJP membership would have erupted in a fit of rage. Sanjay Raut stated, “The BJP attempts to educate us, but they are now responsible for this.”
When Balasaheb Thackeray was in power, he put a halt to Pakistan’s team because our soldiers were being killed by them. Our Kashmiri Pandits were being massacred, which is why Balasaheb Thackeray had vowed that we would not allow Pakistan to arrive. However, the BJP formed a government in Maharashtra in the name of Balasaheb Thackeray, so it is impossible to hold him accountable for this. People in the BJP will steal his name whenever it will help them politically, according to Sanjay Raut.

The cricket match between India and Pakistan, which India won by seven wickets, became controversial because several political leaders condemned the chanting of “Jai Shri Ram” by cricket supporters at the stadium directed towards the Pakistani cricketer Muhammad Rizwan. The chant was directed at Rizwan. “India is recognized the world over for its friendliness and sportsmanship. On the other hand, the way in which Pakistani players were treated at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad is inexcusable and represents a new low. It is important that sports serve as a unifying force across nations and help to build true brotherhood. According to the minister of sports for the state of Tamil Nadu, Udhayanidhi Stalin, using it as a weapon to preach hatred is unacceptable behavior.
