On May 25, Uttarakhand’s first Vande Bharat Express, which will connect the state capital of Dehradun to Delhi, will be inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in New Delhi, as announced by the state’s chief minister, Pushkar Singh Dhami. Minister of Railways Ashwini Vaishnaw will also be present at the opening ceremony.
The Vande Bharat Express from Delhi to Dehradun will substantially reduce travel time between the two cities. The railway is anticipated to reduce the commute time between the cities to just three and a half hours. Currently, it takes approximately six hours to travel the distance.
The introduction of the Dehradun-New Delhi Vande Bharat Express is anticipated to increase tourism in Uttarakhand. There are several renowned tourist destinations in the state, including Mussoorie, Haridwar, and Rishikesh. The train will facilitate travel to these destinations and allow more people to experience the grandeur of Uttarakhand.
The indigenous semi-high-speed train is also anticipated to enhance the economy of Uttarakhand. It is anticipated to generate new employment and income for the state. It will also aid in enhancing connectivity between Dehradun and Delhi, thereby boosting trade and commerce between the two cities.
Delhi-Dehradun Vande Bharat Express: Commute Time, Launch Date, Passenger Capacity
- With a total of 16 coaches, including 14 AC chair cars and two executive AC chair cars, the train can accommodate 1,128 passengers.
- The train will cover the distance between the two cities in 3 hours 30 minutes.
- CM Dhami confirmed that the Dehradun to Delhi Vande Bharat Express will be flagged off by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on May 25.
- The Vande Bharat train would be flagged off at 11 am on May 25 and will subsequently run daily from May 29.
Over the next three years, the Indian Railways intends to implement 400 Vande Bharat trains throughout the country.

The Vande Bharat Express is designed to provide modern amenities and enhanced comfort using indigenous technology. Automatic sliding doors, reclining seating in all classes, and rotating seats in the executive class are notable features.
