The buzz surrounding the 2023 Men’s Cricket World Cup, which will return to India’s shores, is progressively gaining momentum. The International Cricket Council (ICC) released a promotional video for their impending marquee event, and appropriately chose one of India’s greatest stars to be the face of their World Cup advertising. The extraordinary two-minute video is narrated by Shah Rukh Khan and is centred on the tournament’s motto and tagline: “All it takes is one day.”

Khan, one of the most recognisable actors in Indian cinema, has ties to cricket through his part-ownership of the Indian Premier League’s Kolkata Knight Riders. Khan narrates the video, speaking of the sensations and emotions that develop during the most prestigious cricket tournament, while also referencing the name of the format.
“One day is the difference between making history and becoming history.” On that one day, jerseys will be donned and chests will swell with pride. On that one day, passion will triumph over logic, and memories will be inscribed. On that day, fears will be overcome and obstacles will be faced with courage. On that day, every emotion will be embraced, from the heights of pleasure to the depths of anguish, relates Khan.
The video is a follow-up to an image of Khan holding the ICC trophy that went viral on the internet on Wednesday night. The video depicts supporters and iconic moments in the World Cup history of all 10 participating teams, with flags flying and national colours prominently displayed.
In one of the shots, Jemimah Rodrigues dances with fellow Indian supporters alongside Eoin Morgan, the 2019 World Cup-winning captain, Dinesh Karthik, Jonty Rhodes, Muttiah Muralitharan, and Shubman Gill.
SRK continues, “On the pitch, rivalries will be redefined, and respect will be reimagined in the spectators. The power of belief will emerge from a billion souls. On that one day, songs will be sung, routines will be performed, and eyes will be filled with awe. And when that day arrives, when that day arrives at last, glory will be immortalised.”
“This is the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup, and for everything ever desired, fought for, and lived for, it takes one day,” concludes the actor in the video.
