On Wednesday, Union Minister of State for Information and Technology Rajeev Chandrasekhar wrote to Congress Lok Sabha MP Hibi Eden that no Kerala Arogya Setu data was shared with the US tech firm that was authorised by the Kerala government to collate, acquire, manage, and handle Arogya Setu data.
“The Kerala government has never authorised a US tech firm to gather, manage, and handle Arogya Setu data. Kerala did not mention this either “said.
Chandrasekhar responded to another MP query by saying, “The data has been deleted in accordance with the protocol.”
“In accordance with the provisions of the Aarogya Setu Data Access and Knowledge Sharing Protocol, 2020, the contact tracing feature of the Aarogya Setu mobile application has been discontinued,” the MoS, IT told the Congress MP, who wanted to know if there was a desire to share the data.

The National Informatics Centre under the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology created Aarogya Setu, a mobile app for Covid-19 contact tracing, syndromic mapping, and self-assessment.
During India’s first Covid wave in April 2020, the app had over 100 million installs in 40 days.
