Ahead to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit, Shiv Sena MP Sanjay Raut stated that Modi’s repeated travels to Mumbai demonstrate that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the Eknath Shinde faction are unfit to lead the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) elections. He stated that the Prime Minister seemed to be more concerned with the upcoming BMC elections in Mumbai than he is with addressing key concerns during the ongoing budget session in Parliament.
